Особливості поетики роману В. Лиса "Вифлеєм" [

Abstract

У статті досліджується роман В. Лиса «Вифлеєм», який належить до найновіших зразків сучасної укра-їнської літератури. Він вийшов 2022 року, тому не отримав наукового осмислення. Предметом аналізу в статті стали особливості сюжетно-композиційної структури твору, заголовковий комплекс, жанрово-стильова своєрідність роману. Жанр твору автор визначив як роман-триптих. Проаналізовано, що сюжет роману складається з кількох завершених мікросюжетів. Часопросторова структура роману включає біблійний та історичний хронотопи, пов’язані євангельським образом-топосом Вифлеєму. Таким чином, визначено тип композиції як ретроспективно-контрапунктну. З’ясовано, що в поетиці роману майстерно переплетені реалістичні (у зображенні жахів війни, Голокосту, Голодомору, сталінських репресій) та романтичні елементи, втілені в кількох історіях кохання. Письменник намагається зберігати нейтральну позицію, тому уникає авторських відступів чи коментарів. Він дотримується традицій класичного реалістичного письма без надмірної історичної деталізації. Простежено, що заголовковий комплекс тісно повʼязаний із біблійною символікою, на що вказує назва та чотири епіграфи. Образ Вифлеєму виконує кілька функцій: у першій частині він є топосом розгортання сюжету, а в наступних його значення розширюється і символічно доповнюється, Вифлеєм стає метафорично-філософським символом перемоги добра над злом, життя над смертю. Кожний із героїв робить свій морально-етичнний вибір: раб Скитій, не бажаючи купувати собі свободу ціною кровопролиття безневинної дитини, зважується на самопожертву; німецький офіцер Генріх фон Заукель закохується в єврейську дівчину Бетті Фогельман і рятує її від загибелі у фашистському гетто, за що мало не платить життям; простий український селянин Юхим прагне спокутувати гріх зради своїй коханій, коли в моторошну добу 1932–1933 років врятував родину від голодної смерті, відмовившись від нареченої Люби. Кожний проходить свій шлях випробувань. Письменник майстерно розгортає особисті історії своїх героїв на тлі складних історичних подій. Зроблено висновок, що у «Вифлеємі» порушено низку важливих морально-етичних проблем: влади, гуманізму, відповідальності за прийняті рішення, вибору, а в узагальненому сенсі – добра і зла.

The article studies the novel “Bethlehemˮ by V. Lys, which belongs to the newest examples of modern Ukrainian literature. It was released in 2022, so it has not been scientifically understood. The subject of analysis in the article was the peculiarities of the story-compositional structure of the work, the title complex, genre-stylistic originality of the novel. The author defined the genre of the work as a triptych novel. It was analyzed that the plot of the novel consists of several completed micro-plots. The chronotopic structure of the novel includes biblical and historical chronotopes connected by the evangelical image-topos of Bethlehem. Thus, the type of composition is defined as retrospective-counterpoint. It has been found that the poetics of the novel skillfully intertwine realistic (in the depiction of the horrors of war, the Holocaust, the Holodomor, Stalinist repressions) and romantic elements embodied in several separate love stories. The writer tries to maintain a neutral position, therefore avoids authorial digressions or comments. It follows the traditions of classical realist writing, but without excessive historical detail. It has been observed that the title complex is closely related to biblical symbolism, as indicated by the title and four epigraphs. The image of Bethlehem performs several functions: in the first part, it is the topos of the unfolding of the plot, and in the following, its meaning is expanded and symbolically supplemented, Bethlehem becomes a metaphorical and philosophical symbol of the victory of good over evil, life over death. Each of the heroes makes his own moral and ethical choice: the slave Scythia, not wanting to buy his freedom at the price of the bloodshed of an innocent child, decides on self-sacrifice; the German officer Heinrich von Zauckel falls in love with the Jewish girl Betty Fogelman and saves her from death in the fascist ghetto, for which he almost paid with his life; a ordinary Ukrainian peasant, Yukhym, seeks to atone for the sin of betrayal of his beloved, when in the terrible days of 1932–1933, he saved his family from starvation by giving up his bride Lyuba. Everyone goes through their own path of trials. The writer masterfully unfolds the personal stories of his characters against the background of complex historical events. It was concluded that “Bethlehemˮ raised a number of important moral and ethical problems: power, humanism, responsibility for decisions made, choice, and in a generalized sense – good and evil.
