Студії дизабіліті в трансатлантичному англомовному просторі кінця XX – початку XXI століть

Abstract

У контексті сучасних викликів, як-от жертви Революції Гідності й численні втрати й каліцтва під час військової агресії Росії проти України, перед нашою науковою спільнотою актуальним постає питання вивчення дизабіліті з огляду на його поліаспектний характер і міждисциплінарні зв’язки. Цінним у цьому контексті є досвід країн Заходу, які давно застосовують інклюзивний підхід до розв’язання проблем тілесних Інших. Їхні ціннісні орієнтири сформувалися в другій половині ХХ століття під час як складних внутрішніх трансформацій, так і жорсткого протистояння з комуністичними режимами. Тому трансатлантичні держави під натиском громадськості змушені були стати на шлях прогресивного еволюційного розвитку в питаннях прав найбільш незахищених верств населення. У вирі цієї непростої боротьби й закладено фундамент студій дизабіліті. Гуманітарні дослідження ненормативної тілесності в Україні представлені поодинокими розвідками. У 2011 році за допомоги канадських громадських організацій опубліковано навчальний посібник «Інвалідність та суспільство». У філософській площині Вікторія Суковата прослідкувала спільність і відмінність у вживанні й застосуванні термінів «дизабіліті» та «інвалідність», довівши значеннєву перевагу англійського відповідника. Уперше в літературознавстві іншомовний аналог застосувала Тетяна Свербілова на противагу більшості, які в межах власних академічних зацікавлень оперують поняттями хвороби та інвалідності (Ольга Бандровська, Тамара Гундорова, Оксана Узлова й інші). Отже, метою статті є увиразнення проекцій дизабіліті в теоретичному дискурсі США із залученням британського та європейського контекстів межі тисячоліть. Ми можемо констатувати тематичну й семантичну різноплановість британського й американського просторів дизабіліті. Досліджувана проблема потребує системного підходу із залученням термінологічних баз багатьох дисциплін. Уважаємо доцільним продовження вивчення здобутків зарубіжних учених задля більш повного розкриття проблеми ненормативної тілесності й розширення обріїв вітчизняного літературознавства.

In the context of contemporary challenges, such as the victims of the Revolution of Dignity and the numerous losses and mutilations during Russia's military aggression against Ukraine, the issue of studying disability in the light of its multidimensional nature and interdisciplinary links is a key issue for the domestic scientific community. In this context, the experience of Western countries is extremely important because of their long usage of an inclusive approach to corporal Others. Their values were formed in the second half of the twentieth century during both complex internal transformations and violent confrontation with the communist powers. Transatlantic states, being under pressure from the public, were therefore forced to embark on a path of progressive evolution in the rights of the most vulnerable layers of the society. The foundation of disability studies was laid in the vortex of this difficult struggle. Non-normative corporal humanitarian studies in Ukraine are presented by a small number of works. In 2011, with the assistance of Canadian NGOs, the tutorial “Disability and Society” was published. In the philosophical sphere, Victoria Sukovata pursued the commonality and difference in the use and application of the terms invalidity and disability proving a significant advantage of the second one. For the first time in literature studies, Tetiana Sverbilova used a foreign language counterpart, as opposed to the majority who, within their own academic interests, operate on the concepts of illness and invalidity (Olga Bandrovska, Tamara Gundorova, Oksana Uzlova, and others). Therefore, the purpose of our article is to express the projections of disability in the theoretical discourse of the United States with the involvement of the British and European contexts at the turn of the millennium. We can state the thematic and semantic diversity of the British and American spaces of disability. The problem under study requires a systematic approach involving the terminological bases of many disciplines. We consider it efficient to continue studying the achievements of foreign scientists in order to reveal more fully the problem of non-normative corporeality and expand the horizons of domestic literary studies.
