Abstract

The article an analysis the legal nature of the professional associations of lawyers. The essence of compulsory membership of lawyers in such associations. Based on the analysis, in particular the European Court of Human Rights and the provisions of international standards of the legal profession concludes that counsel is obligatory membership in professional associations do not violate the principle of independence of the legal profession. Attention is drawn to the fact that the existence of professional associations of lawyers and the mandatory membership is contrary to them necessary to ensure the possibility of the existence of an independent legal status of the lawyer, since the purpose of their existence is to promote the implementation of a lawyer of their activities on a professional basis.
