Abstract

Stroke register is the only epidemiological method to study cerebral stroke, which allows to acquire significant data about morbidity and fatality as well as to obtain objective information оn the situation in acute stroke aid system in the studied region. Using а stroke register, an epidemiological survey of acute blood supply disturbances in Sumy was conducted according to а program specially worked out. Overall, 1293 new cases of stroke were registered for а tow-year period. In 200 І, stroke morbidity was found to reach 2,21 per 1 000 persons, mortality - 0,70. In 2002, stroke morbidity was found to reach 2,22 per 1 000 persons, mortality -0,58.
