Когнітивні основи прагматичного опису текстів англійської художньої літератури

Abstract

The article focuses on cognitive-pragmatic description of English fiction texts. The procedure of making pragmatic conclusion with the aim of restoring reduced text fragments and establishing not cle¬arly expressed meaning underlies a cognitive approach to language and text comprehension. A cognitive-pragmatic text analysis is given to illustrate the procedure of developing further events as reflected in discourse, based on previous ones. The author draws a conclusion that text is a uniting centre of mental processes and speech activities of communicants pursuing some definite pragmatic aim.
