Експериментальне дослідження динаміки мовної ситуації (український кейс)

Abstract

У статті автори досліджують динаміку мовної ситуації у різних регіонах України. Мовна ситуація в Україні є унікальною: більшість громадян стверджує, що знають державну мову, але далеко не всі послуговуються нею у повсякденному житті. Це може призвести навіть до вимирання мови, адже основне її призначення – комунікація. Із метою з’ясування, яку мову мешканці різних регіонів використовують у повсякденному житті, у травні 2021 р. було проведено експериментальне дослідження, у якому взяли участь 120 українців віком 18–25 років. Учасники дослідження, які проживали у чотирьох різних частинах України (на заході, сході, півдні, півночі та центрі України), повинні були відповісти на три запитання, запропоновані в опитувальнику. Питання стосувалися вибору мови у щоденному спілкуванні у віці 20–30 років трьома поколіннями у їхніх сім’ях. Автори статті аналізують, якою мовою спілкувалося старше покоління (бабусі та дідусі опитуваних) у молодому віці, середнє покоління (батьки опитуваних) у молодому віці та якій мові надають перевагу самі респонденти. Результати опитування свідчать про динаміку мовної ситуації в Україні. У всіх регіонах країни, окрім сходу, простежуємо тенденцію щодо зростання вживання української мови у повсякденному житті громадян. Найчастіше українською мовою послуговуються на заході країни, але така мовна ситуація у цій частині України була й 20 чи 50 років тому. На сході частка сучасної молоді, яка спілкується українською, становить лише 10%, проте збільшується кількість тих, хто надає перевагу російській мові. У центральній та північній частині превалює українська мова у щоденному спілкуванні. Відсоток сучасної молоді, яка вибирає українську мову, зростає і становить майже 70%. На півдні країни теж помічено позитивну динаміку щодо вживання української мови, хоча у цьому регіоні менше третини населення використовують державну мову в повсякденні. За результатами дослідження було створено діаграми, які відображають зміни у мовній ситуації в Україні.

In the article the authors study the dynamics of the language situation in different regions of Ukraine. The language situation in Ukraine is unique: most citizens claim to know the state language, but not everyone uses it in everyday life. This can even lead to the extinction of the language because its main function is communication. In order to find out what language the inhabitants of different regions use in everyday life, in May 2021 an experimental study was conducted, which involved 120 Ukrainians of 18 – 25 years old. The participants of the survey live in four different parts of Ukraine (Western, Eastern, Southern, Northern, and Central Ukraine) and they had to answer three questions suggested in the questionnaire. The questions concerned the choice of a language for everyday communication by three generations in their families when being young (at the age of 20 or 30). The authors of the article analyze which language the older generation (grandparents of the respondents) spoke at a young age, which language the middle generation (parents of the respondents) used at a young age and which language the respondents themselves prefer in everyday life. The results of the survey show the dynamics of the language situation in Ukraine. In all regions of the country, except Eastern Ukraine, there is a growing trend of using the Ukrainian language in the daily lives of citizens. The Ukrainian language is most often used in the west of the country, but such a language situation in this part of Ukraine was 20 or 50 years ago. In the east, the percentage of modern youth who speak Ukrainian is only 10%, but the number of those who prefer Russian is increasing. In the Central and Northern parts, the Ukrainian language predominates in everyday communication. The percentage of modern youth who prefer the Ukrainian language is growing and it reaches almost 70%. In the south of the country, a positive trend in the use of the Ukrainian language has also been observed, although in this region less htan a third of the population uses the state language on a dayil basis.
