DAMAGE TO THE SPINE

Abstract

Injuries of the spine and spinal cord are diverse pathologies characterized by various injury mechanisms. Spine injuries are among the most serious injuries. They make up 0.4 - 0.5% of all fractures of the bones of the skeleton. A significant number of the injured are young people. 20-40% of closed injuries of the spine are complicated by damage to the spinal cord of varying degrees of severity. A significant percentage of those dissatisfied with the result of treatment remains. Disability with complicated spinal injuries is 95%. Mortality in this group of patients is up to 30%. Establishing a diagnosis is crucial for the correct treatment of patients with spinal injuries.
