The article is devoted to the analysis of pragmatic strategies and lexico-stylistic devices used in English-language war journalism to construct the concept of WAR CONFLICT in public consciousness. The aim of the study is to determine how linguistic means – from lexical choice to syntactic structures – influence the interpretation of war, the legitimization of actions, and the creation of an emotional-evaluative background of reporting. The research focuses on how terminology selection, attribution of statements, syntactic patterns, and editorial framing affect the perception of events, the status of par-ticipants, and the moral evaluation of war. It is shown that the legitimization of “one’s own” and allied forces is often achieved through euphemistic formulas (operation, necessary step, security), whereas the delegitimization of the opponent is realized through negatively marked vocabulary (terrorists, militants, regime) and emphasis on violations of law. Particular attention is given to humanitarian-laden words (humanitarian crisis, displaced, massacre), which evoke emotional responses and draw attention to civilian suffering. In multilateral conflicts, journalists strive to maintain balance by distributing evaluations among parties through attribution markers (X says, Y reports) and distancing quotation marks. The research methodology is based on the analysis of a corpus of publications from major English-language media outlets (Reuters, AP, BBC, The Guardian, Al Jazeera) and the quantitative generalization of four main lexical groups – delegitimizing, humanitarian-emo-tional, legitimizing, and euphemistic – reflecting diverse pragmatic strategies of media discourse. The findings demonstrate that English-language war reporting combines informativeness with subtle influence: linguistic strategies not only describe events but also shape the frames of empathy, condemnation, or support toward the parties involved
