Abstract

This paper focuses on the interdiscourse relations in English medical academic discourse. The category of interdiscoursivity involves the different aspects of discourse as cognitive, communictative, and metacommunicative. It has been shown the English medical discourse is impacted by some social and social issues beyond medicine. The current social, cultural and scientific contexts tend to convey curtain messages which in more or less degree are adopted and integrated by the medical discourse. This influence is mainly reflected by introduction particular economic concepts as key words of the social order and culture, by gradual increasing of authors’ self-expression in the medical texts. So, interdiscoursivity may integrate different aspects of knowledge and practice in reflect it on cognitive, communicative and metacommunicative levels.
