Abstract

The work is dedicated to the problem of syntactic organization of characters’ speech in dialogue in the American western novels. The author gives their own interpretation of the term ‘carnavalisation’ of speech. A conclusion is made about definite syntactic markering of speech belonging to the main positive and negative characters in western novels. The results of the investigation point to psychological differentiation of the characters’ speech portraits even on the level of their syntax.
