Гендерні індикатори у перекладі дискурсивних маркерів (на матеріалі англо-українських перекладів художніх творів ХХ століття)

Abstract

The article deals with the effect of gender factors on the choice of Ukrainian contextual correspondences for English discourse markers. Gender is regarded in the study as a set of social and cultural norms attributed to people regarding their sex. In discourse gender becomes apparent in male and female styles of speech which the translator should take into account while rendering discourse markers. The role of discourse markers in the translation process shouldn’t be underestimated since they reflect the author’s conception of characters’ identity.
