Вербалізація понять кримінального права у системах юридичних термінів англійської та української мов

Abstract

The article deals with the ways of linguistic representation of criminal law notions in English and Ukrainian languages. Semantic correlations are the basic means for modeling the lexico-semantic system. The internal structure of the word or its meaning is the word’s semantic structure. Each separate meaning is the subject to structural analysis in which it may be represented as sets of semantic components that verbalize notions in the language system. In order to reveal the semantic structure of the words denoting the criminal law notions in British and Ukrainian legal systems the method of dictionary definitions, the semantic opposition method and the componential analysis have been applied. Comparative analysis of the lexis manifesting criminal law notions in English and Ukrainian languages has made it possible to find out semantic divergences as well as similarities in the conceptual representation of criminal law notions.
