Ознаки метафоризації американського культурного символу Martin Luther King

Abstract

The present article investigates the peculiarities of metaphoric representation of the American cultural symbol Martin Luther King. The author of the article touches upon the stylistic and rhetorical means used in the renowned public speech “I have a dream” produced by Martin Luther King, Jr., in which he called for racial equality, the end of discrimination and segregation of Afro-Americans. The rhetorical device of biblical and historical allusion as well as stylistic means such as syntactic anaphora, metaphor and biblical symbol are under the linguistic study.
