Розвиток дистанційної освіти в навчальних закладах Канади ХХ – початку ХХІ століття

Abstract

У роботі розкрито особливості розвитку дистанційної освіти в навчальних закладах Канади. Висвітлено специфіку організації дистанційного навчання в найбільш популярних наземних і віртуальних університетах різних провінцій Канади. Виявлено основні завдання дистанційної освіти в канадській системі вищої освіти. З’ясовано ключові проблеми, що стримують розвиток дистанційної освіти на міжнародному рівні. Доведено, що дистанційне навчання в Канаді успішно інтегроване в навчальний процес і спрямоване на підготовку висококваліфікованих фахівців різних напрямів. The author of the article has revealed the peculiarities of development of distance education in educational institutions of Canada. We can state that Canada, alongside with Britain and the United States, took the honorary title of one of the first countries in which distance education was introduced. The specificity of distance learning in the most popular universities in different Canadian provinces have been covered (Nova Scotia, Manitoba, Athabasca, Ontario, British Columbia and others). It has been ststed that the active introduction of some form of distance education began in the 20s of the last century in the various provinces of Canada. The main objectives of distance education in the Canadian system of higher education have been identified. The article has also described the activities of the Canadian Virtual University, which operates through the joint efforts of the leading universities in Canada and provides public education services remotely. Features of using the elements of distance learning in Canadian secondary schools have also been highlighted. The key issues that hinder the development of distance education at the international level have been clarified. It has been proved that the distance learning in Canada is successfully integrated into the educational process within the system of secondary and higher education and is aimed at training highly qualified specialists in different areas. The promising areas for further study in the social and pedagogical perspectives have been identified.
