Treatment and secondary prevention of cardiovascular diseases (the basis of which is coronary heart disease) remains one of the most topical challenges of modern cardiology. It is evident that the possibility to improve the nowadays existing hemodynamically active antianginal funds has nearly been exhausted despite all the successful treatment of coronary heart disease. A new trend in the treatment of ischemic diseases named myocardial cytoprotection is of special interest in this respect. In particular, cardiocytoprotector quercetin detects a wide range of biological activities: antioxidant, cardioprotective, vasoprotective, antihypoxic, immunostimulator, inhibitory effect on the enzyme 5- lipoxygenase and suchlike. This objectively improves the condition of patients which allows it to be recommended as a necessary adjunct to standard therapy.uk
