Словацьке питання в політиці демократичної партії (1944 – 1948 рр.)

Abstract

У статті висвітлюється діяльність Демократичної партії, спрямована на вирішення словацького питання у повоєнній Чехословаччині. Партія під- тримувала ідею федеративного устрою чехословацької держави, яка мала посприяти утвердженню в чесько-словацьких відносинах принципу «рів- ний з рівним». Демократи брали активну участь у розбудові словацьких державних органів влади та стежили за тим, щоб їх компетенція не об- межувалася центральною владою. Демократичній партії через складну внутрішньополітичну ситуацію в державі не вдалося знайти послідовного союзника у боротьбі з празьким централізмом. У результаті керівництво партії змушене було погодитися на три празькі угоди, які поступово зміц- нили позиції центральних органів влади в Словаччині та підготували ґрунт для утвердження унітарного устрою в ЧСР. Автор доводить, що політика Демократичної партії в словацькому питанні в 1944-1948 рр. була не вель- ми успішною, оскільки партії не вдалося відстояти головні завоювання Словацького національного повстання.

The author of the article shades the light of the views of the Democratic management on the ways of solving of the Slovak issue in the post-war Czechoslovakia. The author states the fact that, the party supported the idea of the federated system in the Czechoslovak state in the first postwar years. According to the point of view of the Democratic Party management, the federation was to guarantee a right for free national development in the spheres of politics, economics, and culture and to contribute to the establishment of the principle ‘equal to equal’ in the Czechoslovak relations. The participation of the Democrats in the development of the Slovak state authorities is described. The Democratic Party tries to prevent expansion of the powers of the central government of Slovak Republic by means of their restriction. This fact forced the Democrats to cooperate with Slovak communists. However, this union turned out to be unsteady, and soon the Democrats were to fight against Prague centralism and to agree with the Prague Treaties, which changed the positions of the central government authorities and prepared the basis for the establishment of the unitary system in Czechoslovakia. The Democratic Party could not resist this fact, as far as after the triumph on the parliamentary elections in 1946 it had to defend against the false accusation by the communists and to defend its right for existence.
