Abstract

The author of the present paper puts forward the thesis according to which the identity of a Greek Catholic man calls in question traditional imagination of the Catholics and the Orthodoxies about themselves, about each other and about the "uniat" in turn. The investigation gives the panoramic survey of the East Catholic Churches of Greek Byzantine Tradition in the modern world. The author in turn analyzes the shift of images concerning the nature of the East Catholic communities after the Trident Council from "the rites" to “the particular”/”local” “churches” “sui juris”, what is reflected in the decrees of the Second Vatican Council.
