Abstract

The idea of convocation of International congress of Slavs scholars is on beginning of the 20 century'. In the 1901-1903 preparatory work was realised, there was convened a special conference, with participation of the leading Russian and foreign scientists. Congress was not convened because of Russian-Japanese war. However there was the problem of rallying of scientific forces. In 1912 in Petersburg was formed „Union of slavonie academies and scientific societies'”. As a result of World War I this association did not developed the activity. The first international congress of Slavs scholars took place only in 1929 in Prague. 560 persons from the 21 states of the world took part in it. The Ukrainian slavic studies were presented by 27 scientists (K.Studynskiy, O.Kolessa, F.Kolessa, I.Bryk, L.Biletskiy, I.Ohiyenko, S.Siropolko, S.Pylypenko, К Nimchynov, P Buzuk, N.Kaluzhniy and others). Congress functioned plenary and section-bysection. Ukrainian Slavs scholars had reports in literary-historical and linguistic sections. There were organized the special exhibition from the funds of the National museum about Y.Dobrovskiy and exhibition of literature slavic studies and photos. Congress desided to hold the representative meetings of Slavs scholars of each four years.
