Abstract

In the article the problem of interrelation and mutual effect of Ukrainian and West-European historiography is discussed. In particular the peculiarities of the investigations of Middle Age history are traced. On the one hand - the tendencies of medievistics of historians of school of "Annals", and on the other the approach of the representative of Kiev historical school V. B. Antonovych - V. G. Lyaskoronsky. Special attention is given to the application of method of critical analysis in the investigation of historical sources. Among the revealed by Lyaskoronsky obvious falsifications of the annals, the history of murder of Volodymir Velyki’s sons, Boris and Glib, is distinguished.
