dc.description.abstract	The paper considers the events which favoured the dissemination of the Ukrainian language and more simple characters (hrazhdanka) in the schools of Transcarpathia in the second half of the 18th – early 19th centuries, namely: (i) the Vienna meeting of 1773, (ii) the school reform of 1777 in Hungary, (iii) the ABC-book by Ioan Kutka of 1797, (iv) the educational project by Andriy Bachynsky, the Bishop of Mukachevo (1807), (v) amendments made by H.
