Abstract

А series of operations performed in а number of stages whereby the Pectoralis Major muscle or Latissimus dorsi is transposed onto the frontal surface of the arm with the purpose of restoring active flexion function of the forearm, and hand flexor tendons are transposed onto the flexing surface of the forearm to restore active flexion function of the hand and fingers in traumatic injuries of Brachial plexus, are discussed. An analysis of surgery undergone bу 5 patients is made, with an excellent result obtained in 4 of them and а good one in the rest 1 patient. High efficiency of either method is shown, as well as that of their combination, in rehabilitating patients with а traumatic Brachial plexus injury. One advantage of the combined method of muscle and tendon-muscle transposition is that it is possible to use it at а late stage (over 12 months) postinjury, when surgery оn nerve structures is not advisable.
