Про термінотворчу потенцію префіксів у сучасній англійській мові

Abstract

Not all the prefixes, marked by high values of productivity and use in Modern English, actively partake of term-formation in each text of the scientific prose. To active term-formation prefixes belong those which are «specializing» themselves in the formation of terms in some definite sphere of knowledge. Their quantitative values of functioning may be much smaller in comparison with those of the non-terminological vocabulary. The degree of the term- formation potentiality of one and the same prefix greatly depends on the text of this or that branch of science and engineering. The term-formation potentiality of prefixes is also conditioned by the concretization of meaning in the texts, belonging to different functional styles.
