| dc.description.abstract | The investigator Ivan Senko explains Mykola Hohol's narration about Petro Bezridny and his crime (the murder of а seven-year-old bоу in order to get а treasure) as allegory of Ukrainian history from the times of Bohdan Кhmelnytsky to the times of the hetman Ivan Mazepa. Betrayal, greed for money, insidiousness of mentioned and other hetmans and pretenders to the mace (Bryukhovetsky, Vyhovsky, Doroshenko, Teterya, Petryk) were the cause for fratricidal confrontations in Ukraine in the second half of the 17th and at the begining of the 18th centuries. Creating collective images of Terentiy Korzh, Basavryuk and Petro Bezridny, Mykola Hohol used an anonymous manuscript "History of Ruten" which told aboat tragical consequences of the mentioned getmans' activity. | uk |
