Особливості перекладу фразеологічних одиниць у романі Коллін Гувур «Залишся, якщо кохаєш»

Abstract

Предметом розгляду цього дослідження є фразеологічні єдності в перекладацькому аспекті. У статті розглядаються особливості перекладу з англійської мови на українську фразеологічних одиниць у романі Коллін Гувер “Залишся, якщо кохаєш” (Colleen Hoover “It starts with us”). Нами було розглянуто та проаналізувати варіанти перекладу, здійснені перекладачкою Ольгою Бондаренко, у порівнянні зі словниковими відповідниками. Фразеологічні одиниці (ФО) досить часто використовують у художній літературі. У статті розглянуто поняття фразеологічної одиниці. Зазначено, що фразеологічні одиниці – групи слів – не є механічною сумою значень кожного окремого елемента; вони містять інформацію, пов’язану з певними асоціаціями у свідомості мовця/перекладача. Проаналізовано 40 фразеологічних одиниць, які зустрілися у романі. Визначено групи фразеологічних одиниць: вербальні, номінативні, компаративні. Наведено приклади фразеологічних одиниць, та варіанти їх перекладу автором перекладу роману у порівнянні зі словниковими перекладами деяких з них. Варіанти перекладу, визначені нами: фразеологічний еквівалент, фразеологічний аналог та описовий/вільний переклад. Наведено приклади перекладу описовим способом деяких фрагментів тексту. Проаналізовані фразеологічні одиниці представлені у таблиці, з якої видно кількість вживаних прикладів кожної групи фразеологізмів за видом перекладу. Проаналізувавши фразеологічні одиниці у досліджуваному художньому творі, ми дійшли висновку, що найбільша кількість вживань фразеологізмів першого типу (вербального) – 21 одиниці; далі слідують номінативні – 10; на третьому місці – фразеологізми компаративні, їх кількість складає 9 одиниць. Як демонструють показники таблиці, найчастотнішим видом перекладу виявився вид перекладу “фразеологічний аналог” (17 ФО), “фразеологічний еквівалент” (15 ФО) займає другу позицію, на третьому місці – “oписовий переклад” (8 ФО). Велика кількість яскравих прикладів фразеологічних одиниць, використаних талановитою американською письменницею, а також цікавий сюжет книги зробили роман надзвичайно популярним, а вдалий переклад поширив коло україномовних читачів.

Peculiarities of translation of phraseological units in Colleen Hoover’s novel “It starts with us”. The subject of consideration of this study is phraseological unities in the translational aspect. The article examines the peculiarities of the translation from English into Ukrainian of phraseological units in Colleen Hoover’s novel “It starts with us”. We considered and analyzed the translation options made by the translator Olga Bondarenko in comparison with dictionary counterparts. Phraseological units (Ph.U) are quite often used in fiction. The article discusses the concept of a phraseological unit. It is noted that phraseological units – groups of words – are not a mechanical sum of the values of each individual element; they contain information related to certain associations in the mind of the speaker/interpreter. In the novel 40 phraseological units were analyzed. Such groups of phraseological units were defined: verbal, nominative, comparative. Examples of phraseological units and variants of their translation by the author of the translation of the novel were given in comparison with the dictionary translations of some of them. Translation options defined by us are as following: phraseological equivalent, phraseological analogue and descriptive/ free translation. Examples of descriptive translation of some text fragments were given. The analyzed phraseological units are presented in the table, which shows the number of used examples of each group of phraseological units by type of translation. Having analyzed the phraseological units in the researched artistic work, we came to the conclusion that the largest number of uses of phraseological units of the first type (verbal) is 21 units; followed by the nominative –10; the third place is occupied by comparative phraseological units, their number is 9 units. As it is shown in the table, the most frequent type of translation turned out to be “phraseological analogue” (17 Ph.U), “phraseological equivalent” (15 Ph.U) takes second place, and “descriptive translation””(8 Ph.U) takes the third place. A large number of bright examples of phraseological units used by a talented American writer, as well as an interesting plot of the book, made the novel extremely popular, and a successful translation spread the circle of Ukrainian-speaking readers.
