Роль єзуїтів у рекатолизації Північно-східних комітатів Угорщини

Abstract

Релігійна революція, започаткована М. Лютером у 1517 р. небаченою швидкістю огорнула Європу. Ідеї Лютера проникли і до Угорщини1. На кінець XVI ст. протестанти становили домінуючу частину населення Угорщини, Трансільванії та Хорватії.

Through the example of Northeast Hungary the author describes the activity of the Jesuits in the recatholicization of different social groups during the 17th century. It is noted that re-catholicization is something more than a religious struggle with the Protestants, it is a kind of socio-political movement that led to the regain of a dominant position and authority of the Roman Catholic Church and the Jesuits became the main force of this process.
