Металепсис і наратив: огляд теоретичних досліджень

Abstract

У статті розглядаються сучасні концепції металепсису, його ознаки та різновиди. Концепт «металепсису» є своєрідним синтетичним утворенням, що інтегрує інструменти, прийоми, серед яких однин із найважливіших базується на активізації читача. Металепсис перетинається з автометарефлексією, прийомами одивнення, проте тільки на одному зі своїх рівней. Відповідно, металепсис зачіпає глибший шар текстотворення, який дослідники визначають як онтологічний. Розгляд цих категорій зумовлює головні завдання представленої роботи. Металепсис сьогодні усвідомлюється як спосіб художнього мислення, що спрямований на підрив усталеної ілюзії, меж, конвенцій. Огляд досліджень переконує у тому, що функціональні можливості металепсису значно розширилися. Наративний металепсис притаманний також невербальним медіа, впливає на транс- та інтермедіальні контакти та переходи. Одним із найменш вивчених аспектів є особливості металепсису нон-фікшн літератури. Парадоксальність, антиілюзіоністська настанова, подолання ієрархії та меж світів, автореференційність – властивості металепсису, що відкривають приховане, переозначують усталене та прийняте. Його головна функція – активізація читача, пробудження сумнівів, запитань, відчуття заплутаності та відкриття множинності інтерпретацій. Попри поширене уявлення про трансгресивність металепсису, дослідження демонструють, що цей інструмент не завжди призводить до зламу і перетину наративних меж, є більш витонченим і багатоманітним. Крім того, не завжди відбувається антиілюзіоністський ефект, адже деякі типи металепсису посилюють занурення в ілюзію. Переходи між наративними рівнями можуть виконувати різні функції, моделюючи гнучкість взаємозв’язку уявного світу, наратора, світу читача і реальності.

The article examines the modern concepts of metalepsis, its characteristics and varieties. The notion of "metalepsis" is a kind of synthetic formation that integrates tools and techniques crystallized in searching for approaches to the self-referential discourse, among which one of the most significant is based on the reader’s activation. Metalepsis intersects with autometareflection, the technique of estrangement. Accordingly, metalepsis affects a deeper layer of text creation, defined as ontological. Consideration of these categories determines the main tasks of the presented work. Metalepsis is a way of artistic thinking to undermine established illusions, boundaries, and conventions. A review shows that metalepsis has expanded its functionality. Narrative metalepsis also extends to the non-verbal media, affecting trans- and intermedial contacts and transitions. One of the least studied aspects is the features of metalepsis in non-fiction literature. Paradoxicality, anti-illusionist intention, overcoming hierarchy and boundaries of worlds, and self-referentiality are properties of metalepsis that reveal the hidden and redefine the established and accepted. Its main function is to activate the reader, to awaken doubts, questions, and feelings of confusion, and to open up a multiplicity of interpretations. Despite the widespread perception of the transgressive nature of metalepsis, research shows that this tool does not always lead to breaking and crossing narrative boundaries, but is more sophisticated and multifaceted. In addition, the anti-illusionist effect does not always occur, because some types of metalepsis, on the contrary, increase immersion in the illusion. Transitions between narrative levels can perform different functions, modelling the flexibility of the relationship between the imaginary world, the narrator, the reader’s world, and reality.
