Проблема мовної політкоректності в сучасній англійській мові: вплив соціокультурних змін на словниковий запас

Abstract

У статті висвітлено проблему мовної політкоректності в сучасній англійській мові та детально проаналізовано, як соціокультурні зміни впливають на її словниковий запас. Авторами обгрунтовано, що трансформації мови виходять за межі простого оновлення лексичних одиниць: вони стосуються побудови дискурсу та загальної комунікативної етики. У роботі розкрито гендерний аспект – описано заміну традиційних займенників на гендерно-нейтральні форми, а також перехід від чітко окреслених «чоловічих» і «жіночих» найменувань професій до універсальних назв. Доведено, що така зміна, підкріплена теоретичними засадами соціолінгвістики та психолінгвістики, демонструє прагнення мовної спільноти до інклюзивності й рівноправності. Крім того, розглянуто расову та етнічну чутливість. Наведено приклади відмови від історично вкорінених термінів із негативним контекстом. Наголошено, що лексичні зміни, підкріплені суспільними рухами та офіційними рекомендаціями, сприяють усуненню дискримінаційних конотацій і формуванню толерантнішого дискурсу. Окрему увагу приділено інклюзії людей з інвалідністю. Підкреслено, що мовні інновації базуються на соціальній моделі інвалідності, яка орієнтована на гідність та особистісні особливості людини. У статті проаналізовано вплив політкоректності на появу і поширення нових термінів. Авторами показано, як медіа та академічні спільноти закріплюють ці слова у фаховому та повсякденному вжитку, й окреслюють баланс між свободою слова та необхідністю враховувати почуття вразливих груп. Таким чином, стаття є комплексним дослідженням трансформацій сучасної англійської мови під впливом політкоректності, які відображають глибинні зрушення в суспільстві й активізують дискусії щодо подальшого розвитку комунікативних норм.

The article highlights the problem of linguistic political correctness in the modern English language and analyzes in detail how socio-cultural changes affect its vocabulary. The authors argue that language transformations go beyond the mere updating of lexical units: they relate to the construction of discourse and general communicative ethics.
