Переклад метафори як засобу увиразнення у детективному романі (на прикладі детективного роману «Кувала зозуля»)

Abstract

У статті на матеріалі детективного роману Роберта Галбрейта «Кувала зозуля» аналізуються способи перекладу метафори у художньому творі. Зазначається, що переклад художнього твору може бути вільним та дослівним. Дослівний переклад художнього твору не може відобразити усих стилістичних особливостей першоджерела, тому, головна задача перекладача полягає у дотриманні змісту, зовнішньої та внутрішньої форми під час передачі художнього твору. Встановлено та проаналізовано сутність поняття метафори, визначено головні підходи до розуміння метафори. Досліджено, що метафори поділяються на стерті, мовні та авторські. У художньому творі метафори вербалізують характерний менталітет нації. Переклад метафори полягає у тому, щоб перекладач вдало дібрав необхідні концепти з метою передачі лексико-семантичного значення метафори. Зазначено, що чим більша культурна дистанція між першоджерелом та перекладом, тим важче перекладачеві передати сенс метафори у творі. Проаналізовано підходи до здійснення перекладу метафори та встановлено, що переклад метафори можна здійснювати за допомогою метафоризації, деметафоризації, реметафоризації, вилучати за неможливості передати метафору та робити описовий переклад. У детективному роману «Кувала зозуля» Роберта Галбрейта перекладач використовує деметафоризацію, реметафоризацію та дослівний переклад метафори. Прикметним є те, що дослівний переклад метафори можливий за умови збігу концептосфер першоджерела та тексту перекладу. Деметафоризація використовується у тому випадку, коли не можливо відтворити культурне поняття у мові перекладу, що може спотворити стилістичний ефект твору. Реметафоризація метафори першоджерела доцільна у тому випадку, коли в основі метафори лежать різні концепти, проте концепт перекладу не змінює лексико-семантичне значення метафори оригіналу та вдало імплікує задум автора.

The article, based on the detective novel by Robert Galbraith “The Cuckoo’s Calling”, analyzes the ways of translating metaphors in a work of fiction. It is noted that the translation of a work of fiction can be free and verbatim. The literal translation cannot show all the stylistic features of the original text. Therefore, the main task of the translator is to observe the external and internal content form when translating the novel. The essence of the concept of metaphor is established and analyzed, and the main approaches to understanding of the metaphor are defined. It is studied that metaphors are divided into erased, linguistic and author’s ones. In the work of fiction, metaphors verbalize the characteristic mentality of the nation. Translation of a metaphor consists in ensuring that the translator successfully selects the necessary concepts in order to convey the lexical and semantic meaning of the metaphor. It is noted that the greater the cultural distance between the original source and the translation, the more difficult it is for the translator to convey cultural concepts. Approaches to the implementation of metaphor translation are analyzed and it is established that metaphor translation can be carried out using metaphorization, demetaphorization, remetaphorization, metaphor can be removed if it is impossible to convey it, descriptive translation. In Robert Galbraith’s detective novel “The Cuckoo’s Calling”, the translator uses demetaphorization, remetaphorization, and a literal translation of the metaphor. It is noteworthy that the literal translation of the metaphor is possible if the concept spheres of the original source and the translation text coincide. Demetaphorization is used when it is impossible to reproduce a cultural concept in the translation language, which may distort the stylistic effect of the work. Remetaphorization of the metaphor of the original source is appropriate if the metaphor is based on different concepts, but the concept of translation does not change the lexical and semantic meaning of the metaphor of the original text and successfully implicates the author’s idea.
