Description:	Based on the detailed analysis and systematization of the literature data available for the ternary halide Rb(2)TeBr(6) and Cs(2)TeI(6) compounds and for the relevant binary halides, synthesis, careful purification and identification of the ternary halides Rb(2)TeBr(6) and Cs(2)TeI(6) have been carried out. For the first time, the phase equilibria in the quasi binary system Rb(2)TeBr(6)–Cs(2)TeI(6) have been explored, and it has been established that this system is characterized by the formation of unlimited solid solution and belongs to type I systems (after Roozeboom). The type and peculiarities of interaction of the ternary components in the investigated quasi binary Rb(2)TeBr(6) - Cs(2)TeI(6) system have been explained by using the crystal chemistry approach.
