Abstract: The aim of this work was to evaluate the quality of drinking water sources of the decentralized water sources of Horyany district of Uzhhorod in the vicinity of the local cemetery based on systematic research of hydrochemical and microbiological water indicators. Taking into consideration the major sources of pollution of decentralized water sources, the criteria of assessing of the quality of drinking water were chosen. All the indicators of the water quality were determined by standard methods. The disrepancy of drinking water in microbiological parameters to the standards indicates the contamination of water sources with municipal wastewaters of households and the possible impact of the local cemetery, as well as the vulnerability of aquifers in the neighborhood of Uzhgorod. Having obtained the values of the hydrochemical and microbiological indicators of drinking water sources quality of the decentralized water sources in Horyany district it has become apparent that water conditioning and purification which would include water softening (ion exchanger) and its disinfection (UV lamps λ = 185 nm exposure) should be held by water users. Without the implementation of these measures the direct consumption of drinking water is unsafe, although to some extent the disinfection can be provided by boiling (only for certain water sources).
