An attempt was made to consider the philosophical roots of the idea of language learning in a close connection with the processes of thinking and learning in the light of D.Ovsyaniko-Kulikovskyi`s philosophy of language. D.Ovsyaniko-Kulikovskyi is a representative of the positive philosophy which spread in the territory of Russia and Ukraine in the period of the XIX century.
