| Description: | The results of surgical treatment of 163 patients with peritonitis performed in our clinic in 2007-2011 were evaluated. There were 17 patients with primary peritonitis, secondary and tertiary, respectively, in 125 and 21 cases. Deep vein thrombosis’ screening consisted of clinical signs and symptoms evaluation as well as triplex compressive ultrasound. Deep vein thrombosis was recognized in 5,9% of patients with primary, 31,2% – secondary and 85,7% – tertiary peritonitis. Significant difficulties in sophisticated pharmakopropohylaxis of thrombotic complications first of all due to staged relaparotomies contribute to top frequency of deep vein thrombosis in patients with tertiary peritonitis.
