| Description: | The study presents the diagnosis and surgical treatment results analysis of 50 patients with varicothrombophlebitis in the short saphenous vein system. In 26% of patients the sural veins thrombosis was diagnosed, which required the resection of thrombosed perforating veins. Colour duplex scanning topically detects the reflux and anatomical particular confluence of sural veins, which allows choosing the adequate treatment tactics. Intraoperative prophylaxis of thromboembolic complications includes the staged surgical technique: 1) junction correction; 2) longitudinal phlebotomy; 3) thrombectomy; 4) phlebotomy suturing; 5) the resection of thrombosed saphenous vein segment; 6) in case of shin veins involvement – thrombectomy with temporary ligation, 7) SEPS; 8) short saphenous vein stripping; 9) radical phlebectomy.
