Передумови становлення і розвитку методики навчання англійської мови на Буковині (кінець ХІХ – початок ХХ ст.)

Abstract

Актуальність дослідження регіональних особливостей розвитку методики навчання англійської мови на Буковині (кінець XIX – початок XX ст.) зумовлена сучасними вимогами суспільства до професійної компетентності учителів/викладачів англійської мови, потребою оновлення процесу підготовки студентів, ма- гістрантів, аспірантів шляхом поглиблення знань з історії методики навчання англійської мови за допомогою конкретно-історичного матеріалу. Метою статті є висвітлення передумов розвитку методики навчання англій- ської мови на Буковині в зазначений відрізок часу. В процесі пошуку використано підходи, принципи і методи чотирьох рівнів: філософського, загальнонаукового, конкретно-наукового і технологічного. Встановлено, що досліджуваний період характеризується наявністю позитивних змін у суспільно-політичному і освітньому житті буковинського краю, що стало наслідком впливу історико-соціальних та освітньо-організаційних чин- ників. Розвитку методики навчання англійської мови на Буковині сприяло прийняття відповідних законів, які лібералізували освітню і соціальну політику в краї, а також поступ суміжних із методикою наук: порів- няльного мовознавства та асоціативної психології, лінгвістичної теорії младограматиків, експериментальної психології, порівняльної психології, гештальтпсихології.

The topicality of the study of the regional features of the development of English teaching methodology in Bukovyna (late XIX – early XX centuries) is due to the modern requirements of the society for the professional competence of the English language teachers, the need to update the process of training students, graduate students, postgraduates through deepening the knowledge of the history of teaching English methods using specific historical material. The purpose of the article is to reveal the preconditions for the development of the methodology of teaching English in Bukovyna over a specified period of time. In the search process, approaches, principles and methods of four levels have been used: philosophical, general-scientific, specific-scientific and technological. It was established that the period under investigation is characterized by the presence of positive changes in the socio-political and educational life of the Bukovyna region, which was the result of the influence of historical, social, educational and organizational factors. The development of the methodology of teaching English in Bukovyna was preconditioned by the adoption of the relevant laws which liberalized educational and social policies in the province. New schools and gymnasia opened which provided learning English according to the updated curricula. Besides, the progress of the sciences adjacent to the methodology (comparative linguistics, associative psychology, linguistic theories of the neogrammarians, experimental psychology, comparative psychology, Gestalt psychology) had its impact. The outcomes of the above mentioned fields created the theoretical basis for development of English teaching methods in the region which resulted in the use of the grammar-translation and direct methods of teaching English.
