Підвищення мотивації до професійної комунікації англійською мовою у курсантів морських вищих навчальних закладів

Abstract

Мета даного дослідження: пошук шляхів та розробка заходів підвищення мотивації до профе- сійної комунікації англійською мовою у курсантів морських вищих навчальних закладів. Використані методи дослідження: аналіз, синтез, систематизація, педагогічне спостереження та бесіди. В статті розроблені заходи щодо підвищення мотивації до професійної комунікації англійською мовою у курсантів морських навчаль- них закладів. Констатована гостра необхідність посилення курсу викладання англійської мови в морських вишах. Виявлено, що головною рушійною силою покращення професійної комунікації англійською мовою у курсантів є мотивація. Також здійснено висновок щодо необхідності своєчасного забезпечення курсантів постійно оновленими навчально-методичними матеріалами, які адаптовані під конкретні спеціальності, що дозволить активізувати інтерес, який є одним з компонентів в структурі мотивації. Виокремлено методичні характеристики для покращення навчання науково-технічній мові. Крім цього зазначена важливість органі- зації позааудиторної роботи з курсантами, залучення їх до наукових досліджень, до участі в конференціях, конкурсах. Розкрито сутність, переваги та шляхи організації такої діяльності, як засобу підвищення мотивації до професійної комунікації англійською мовою.

Modern conditions of international marine industry as well as expanding of labour market of seafarers require proper and sufficient knowledge of the English language. The level of English of seafarers should be well enough for performing their duties properly and safely as stated by STCW. The article has developed measures to increase the motivation for professional communication in English of maritime institutions cadets. The purpose of the research is to study the problem of motivation for professional communication in English and work out the ways of improving it. The general scientific methods have been used: analysis, synthesis, systematization. The results of this investigation are the following. The urgent need to strengthen the course of teaching a foreign language in these institutions was stated. It is revealed that the main driving force for the improvement of professional communication in English for cadets of maritime institutions is motivation defined as an internal force that activates, facilitate and maintains the cadets’ language intentions over time thereby improving the learning outcomes and communication. The importance of the development of note-taking skills via principle of thematic blocks, i.e. set of texts connected by one theme in logical sequence, was highlighted. The hierarchy of teaching of note-taking skills of the cadets was introduced. It was also concluded that the importance of organizing extracurricular work with cadets, attracting them to researching projects, their participation in conferences, competitions. This type of teaching process allows to allocate the speakers, opponents and the moderators of these conferences. Such projects enable the cadets to experience their future managerial positions. This type of work permits to improve the professional communication motivation and required language sub skills through systematization of own knowledge and professional and scientific norms.
