Abstract: In this scientific publication, the authors analyze the preconditions and the current state of the migration crisis, including the particularities of its development in the European Union leading countries. Also, this scientific publication reveals the prob-lem of security of the external borders aggravation against the uncontrolled migration unprecedented volumes of interethnic conflicts and all subsequent consequences. Regarding the leading EU member states, most of them openly disregarded the specified quotas and pursued a tight migration policy within the framework of ensuring the security of the external borders and preventing the aggravation of interethnic conflicts. In fact, the migration crisis is an apple of discover in the EU. Based on this research, we can draw the following conclusions: the settlement of the migration crisis in the EU countries should be comprehensive, the migration policy of European states should take into account all important socio-political, cultural and ethnic values, since the unsettled nature of this problem leads to an exacerbation of interethnic problems and threats to the security of external boundaries. Further studies of the impact of migrants on the national identity of the EU countries and on their own remain promising, as today we are seeing an increase in the scope of migration, changing its character, forming new subspecies, migration has turned into an outright humanitarian catastrophe, actually a global problem of humanity. And the question of how the process of incorporating immigrant cultures from Syria and other countries in the Middle East, Asia and Africa into the European cultural space remains open.
