Військові та цивільні втрати населення Закарпаття у роки Першої світової війни (історико-статистичне дослідження)

Abstract

Пропонована публікація присвячена маловивченій, але актуальній темі – встановленню втрат закарпатців у роки Першої світової війни. Актуальність теми дослідження полягає у тому, що на тлі достатньої вивченості цього питання по всіх воюючих державах, на рівні окремих регіонів залишилося ще багато невияснених моментів. Ця обставина повною мірою стосується нашого рідного краю – Закарпаття, адже закарпатці брали активну участь у Першій світовій війні у складі армії Австро-Угорщини. Отже, актуальним є питання встановлення військових втрат закарпатців у лавах австро-угорської армії. Під час Першої світової війни Закарпаття, у період 1914 – 1915 років, ще й було регіоном, де проходили активні бойові дії між військами Російської імперії та Австро – Угорщини. Беручи до уваги вказані обставини, важливим є також питання визначення втрат цивільного населення, яке ми розділяємо на: втрати закарпатців, які загинули в роки Першої світової війни від бойових або насильницьких дій з боку армій та держав, які воювали; втрати закарпатців, які загинули внаслідок погіршення умов життя через обставини, повʹязані з Першою світовою війною. Основним результатом пропонованої публікації є встановлення широких та звужених інтервалів втрат закарпатців у роки Першої світової війни. Широкий інтервал втрат загиблих військових та цивільних закарпатців визначається у межах 40 702 – 64 679 чоловік. Звужений інтервал – у межах 44 643 – 55 564 загиблих. Середня цифра втрат становить 48 930 чоловік, з них 17 594 (35,96%) – це військові втрати, решта, 31 336 (64,04%), – втрати цивільного населення Закарпаття. Результати, одержані у даній публікації, можуть бути уточнені шляхом подальших досліджень.

The proposed publication is devoted to the poorly researched but relevant topic – the establishment of losses of the Carpathian region during the First World War. The relevance of the topic of the proposed study is that despite the fact that the issue of human losses during the First World War at the level of belligerent states, as of today, has been studied more or less fully, there is still much unclear at the level of individual regions of belligerent states, moments. This fact fully concerns our native land – Transcarpathia, as Transcarpathians took an active part in the First World War within the Austro-Hungarian army. In view of this fact, the question of establishing losses of the Transcarpathians in the part of the Austro-Hungarian army is topical. Equally relevant is the question of the reliability the resulting loss estimates, what we deduced in the proposed publication, estimates of losses of the Carpathians compared with results of other researchers. During the First World War, Transcarpathia, from 1914 to 1915, was also a region where active fighting took place between the Russian Empire and Austria-Hungary. Due to these circumstances, it is also important to determine the losses of civilian population of Transcarpathia. The losses of the civilian population of Transcarpathia in the proposed publication are divided into two parts: 1) the loss of the Transcarpathians, who died in the First World War as a result of hostilities or the terror of power regimes or occupation forces; 2) the loss of the Transcarpathians, who died as a result of the deterioration of living conditions due to circumstances related to the First World War. The main result of the proposed publication is the establishment of wide and narrow intervals of losses of the Transcarpathian region during the First World War. A wide range of casualties and civilians is estimated at 40 702–64 679 people. Narrowed interval – within 44 643–55 564 casualties. The average number of casualties is 48 930 people, of which 17 594 (35.96%) are military casualties of the Transcarpathian region, the remaining 31 336 (64.04%) are civilian casualties of Transcarpathia. The results obtained in the proposed publication can be refined by further research.
