Лінгвокогнітивні особливості чоловічого мовлення у творі Джеймса Джойса "Портрет митця замолоду"

Abstract

У статті на матеріалі твору Джеймса Джойса «Портрет митця замолоду» з’ясовано лінгвокогнітивні особливості чоловічого мовлення. Увагу зосереджено на категоріях внутрішньої свідомості людини, що передбачають відтворення світу та ставлення до нього в чуттєво-емоційних формах, світосприйняття як знання та просторово-часові уявлення про світ, унаслідок синтезу яких виникає світорозуміння та цілісний глобальний образ світу. Автор досліджує внутрішні монологи та психологічні ефекти головного персонажа Стівена Дедаласа, що узагальнюють досвід й осмислену в різних типах діяльності дійсність за допомогою образів та символів. Хоча в романі «Портрет митця замолоду» зображено звичайні явища в житті людини (дитинство, роки навчання в єзуїтських коледжах, розлад із сім’єю, утрата віри, намір покинути Ірландію, самовизначення як митця), але звичний канон просторово-часових уявлень про світ порушено. Одна подія не йде за іншою у хронологічній послідовності, але пам’ять намагається відновити тільки деякі, найбільш яскраві, а тому найбільш пам’ятні враження. Твори Джеймса Джойса як найяскравішого представника модерністської і постмодерністської прози відкривають нові можливості слова, що з доскональною точністю передають плин самого рядового життя, але водночас знаходять об’ємність багатоступінчастого символу, з’єднуючи миттєвість із вічністю. У результаті аналізу висвітлено домінантні риси комунікативної поведінки чоловіків-ірландців, особливості комунікативних ілокутивних висловлювань і соціальних імперативів, яких чоловіки не завжди дотримуються у відповідних комунікативних ситуаціях. Постулюється ідея, що комунікативна взаємодія чоловіків – носіїв ірландської мовленнєвої культури не передбачає приховування власних почуттів і пов’язується з раціональною поведінкою.

This paper is devoted to the linguistic and cognitive peculiarities of the male speech in James Joyce’s novel “A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man”. Attention is focused on the categories of inner consciousness, which anticipate the recreation and treatment of the world in sensual and emotional forms; world-view as knowledge and spatial and temporal conception of the world in consequence of synthesis. There appears world outlook and integral global image of the world. The author examines the inner monologues and psychological effects of the main character Stephen Dedalus that generalize experience and perceived reality represented in different types of activities with the help of images and symbols. Though in the novel “A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man” the ordinary phenomena in the life of a person have been depicted namely (childhood, studies in Jesuitic colleges, discord with the family, loss of faith, the intention to quit Ireland, self-determination as an artist) but the usual canon of spatial and temporal conceptions of the world has been transgressed. One event does not follow the other one in its chronological succession, but memory tries to recollect only some, the most striking consequently the most memorable impressions. James Joyce’s writings, as the most outstanding representative of modernist and postmodernist prose, reveal the new possibilities of a word that with the precise exactness can represent the flow of the ordinary life but at the same time can discover the volumetric multistage sign that unites instantaneousness with eternity. The upshot of the analysis is that the dominant traits of communicative Irish-men behavior, peculiarities of communicative illocutionary utterances and social imperatives which the men do not usually follow in appropriate communicative situations have been clarified. It is postulated the idea that the communicative interaction of the Irish does not presuppose one’s own emotions concealment and tied with rational behavior practically in all the vital situations.
