Вербалізація категорії оцінки в англійських кінорецензіях

Abstract

Статтю присвячено вивченню особливостей вербалізації категорії оцінки в англійських кінорецензіях. Розглянуто основні підходи до вивчення жанру кінорецензії як сукупності текстів малої форми та класифікації лексичних типів вираження категорії оцінки на сучасному етапі розвитку лінгвістичної науки. Зазначено, що будь-яка кінорецензія як текст малої форми характеризується інтертекстуальністю й тематичною визначеністю, а також відіграє інформаційну, аналітичну та аксіологічну функції, причому остання функція є домінуючою. Оцінка як лінгвістична категорія розглядається як сукупність різнорівневих мовних одиниць із оцінним значенням, що відображають позитивне чи негативне ставлення мовця до змісту повідомлення. Описано класи оцінних одиниць із семантикою якості й семантикою ставлення до об’єкта оцінки. Проаналізовано об’єкти оцінки в головних компонентах лінгвокомпозиційної структури англійської кінорецензії. Ними є у вступному абзаці-реченні – фільм загалом або певний його аспект; в основному блоці – робота режисера, інші його стрічки порівняно з рецензованою, сюжетна лінія; в заключній частині – найвизначніша риса, завдяки якій фільм варто чи не варто подивитися. Описано лінгвістичні засоби вираження оцінки на лексичному, синтаксичному і стилістичному рівнях. На лексичному рівні оцінка передається через емоційно-оцінні прикметники, прислівники та іменники вираження якості і ставлення, на синтаксичному – через паралельні конструкції, емфатичні розщеплені конструкції, інверсію, однорідні члени речення, на стилістичному – через такі тропи, як метафоричні (власне метафора, персоніфікація) та метонімічні (синекдоха, перифраз) звороти, гіперболу, порівняння. Розібрано відповідні приклади. Окреслено перспективний напрям дослідження кінорецензій в аспекті з’ясування впливу особливостей індивідуального авторського стилю рецензента на персуазивний потенціал кінорецензії.

The article deals with the peculiarities of verbalization of the category of evaluation in the English film reviews. The main approaches to the study of the genre of a film review as an aggregate of small format texts and to the classification of lexical types of manifestation of the category of evaluation have been tackled as they are traced out in the contemporary Linguistics. It has been noted that any film review as a small format text is characterized by intertextuality and thematic preciseness as well as informative, analytic and axiological functions, the latter being dominant. Evaluation as a linguistic category is dealt with as a sum of linguistic units of various levels having evaluative meaning which convey either positive or negative attitude of a speaker to the content of a message. There have been described classes of evaluative units with the semantics of quality and that of the attitude to an object evaluation. The objects of evaluation in every component of a linguocompositional structure of an English film review have also been analyzed. They constitute: in an introductory passage or sentence – a film in general or its certain aspect; in the main passage – a film director’s job or his other films in comparison with the reviewed one, peculiarities of the plotline; in the final part – the most salient feature which makes it worth or not worth watching the film. Linguistic means of evaluation on the lexical, syntactic and stylistic levels have been described. Evaluation on the lexical level is delivered through emotionally-loaded evaluative adjectives, adverbs and nouns of quality and attitude, on the syntactic level – through parallel constructions, emphatic cleft constructions, inversion, homogeneous parts of a sentence, on the stylistic level it is conveyed by means of such tropes as metaphoric (metaphor proper, personification) and metonymic (synecdoche, periphrasis) expressions, hyperbole, simile. The corresponding examples have been presented. The further research of film reviews can be related to the determination of the influence that peculiarities of a reviewer’s style exert on the persuasive potential of a film review.
