Хибні уявленння про гендер у тексті англомовного анекдоту

Abstract

Стаття присвячена хибним уявленням про гендер у тексті англомовного анекдоту. Гендер – це соціальна стать, зумовлена культурним і соціальним середовищем, нормами та правилами суспільства. У статті докладно розглянуто терміни «гендер» (розумовий конструкт чи модель, що були розроблені з метою більш чіткого наукового опису проблеми статі та поділу між біологічними та соціальними функціями) й «анекдот» (фольклорний жанр, коротка історія чи розповідь про смішний випадок, із несподіваною смішною кінцівкою, який має сатиричне чи жартівливе забарвлення), детально проаналізовані хибні уявлення про гендер (гендерна різниця є великою; гендерні відмінності викликані біологічними відмінностями між статями, гендери розділені, але рівні між собою). Результати дослідження показали, що жінки не бояться виказувати свої емоції, не приховують їх; мають завищені вимоги до свого зовнішнього вигляду – для них важливо завжди гарно виглядати; докладають зусиль щодо змін у чоловічих характерах, а також у різних сферах життя; вони є більш активними та знаючими. У свою чергу, чоловіки не мають претензій до свого вигляду; дотримуються практичної позиції, але у різноманітних сферах життєдіяльності вони не є настільки активними чи досвідченими порівняно з жінками, тобто здаються менш відповідальними. Є думка, що світ став би більш гармонійним, якби обидві статі мали як чисто жіночі якості, так і чисто чоловічі. Людина, маючи такі якості, функціонувала б більш ефективно, ніж та, котра має більш традиційні «жіночі» або «чоловічі» якості, які народжують гендерні схеми і проектують гендерну належність до ситуації. Ідеальною є ситуація, коли «жіночі» і «чоловічі» якості пов’язуються не з «жіночністю» чи «мужністю», а із загальнолюдськими якостями. Культурою нав’язана думка, що чоловіча та жіноча стать – це повна протилежність одна одній, і кожна повинна виконувати лише притаманні їй ролі, що призводить до виникнення хибних уявлень про гендер.

The article is dedicated to misconceptions about gender in the text of the English-language joke. Gender is a social sex arising from the cultural and social environment, norms and rules of the society. In the article, the terms “gender” (a mental construct or model that has been developed for a more precise scientific description of the gender problem and the division between biological and social functions) and “joke” (a folk genre, a short story or story about a funny situation, with an unexpected funny end that has a satirical or playful connotation) are considered in detail. A detailed account of misconceptions about gender has been given (significant gender difference; gender differences are caused by biological differences between sexes, genders are segregated, but equal etc.). The results of the study have shown that women are not afraid to express their emotions, they do not hide them; they have excessive demands on their appearance: it is important for them to look always good; they are making efforts to change men’s character, as well as in different spheres of life; they appear to be more active and knowledgeable. In turn, men have no claims to their appearance; they adhere to a practical point of view, but in various spheres of life they are not as active or experienced as women, that is, they seem to be less responsible. There is a point of view that the world would become more harmonious if both sexes had both purely feminine and masculine qualities. A person having such qualities would function more efficiently and in a variety of conditions than a person who has more traditional “female” or “male” qualities as exactly they that generate gender schemes and design gender belonging to a situation that have nothing to do with it. The ideal situation is when “feminine” and “masculine” qualities are associated not with “femininity” or “masculinity”, but with universal human qualities. The culture is imposed on the idea that the male and female sex is the exact opposite of each other, and each one should fulfill only its inherent roles, and this is what leads to the emergence of misconceptions about gender.
