Abstract:	Стаття присвячена питанню законодавчих цілей покарання. Проаналізовані різні точки зору, порівнюються законодавчі положення кримінальних законів 1960 і 2001 рр. Автор акцентує увагу на карі як на сутності покарання, що випливає з ч. 1 ст. 50 КК України, у зв'язку з чим не відносить її до цілей покарання. The article is devoted the question of legislative aims of punishment. The different points of view аrе analysed, the statutory provisions of сrіmіnal Іaws аrе compared 1960 and 2001. Аn author accents attention оn punishment as essence of punishment, that follows from item 1 article 50 Crіmіnal Code of Ukraine, іn this conneсtion does поt attribute it to the aims of punishment.
