Українська та угорська лінгвогеографія на порозі ХХІ століття

Abstract

The article is about Ukrainian and Hungarian linguogeography from the beginning of its development till present time. The analysis of both research theoretical works and linguistic atlases is given. The Ukrainian school of linguogeography dates from the end of the 19th century and the Hungarian one – from the beginning of the 20th century. They both had worked out their own cartography systems of language phenomena and their interpretation. Analysing all national and regional linguistic atlases which were published in these countries, we thought it necessary to mention also those ones of the Ukrainian dialects that appeared abroad: in Slovakia (V. Latta, Z. Hanudel) and Poland (J. Rieger’s atlas in 8 volumes). The same way we have analysed the atlases of Hungarian dialects published in Ukraine, Romania and former Jugoslavia. The attention is drawn to the further study of these problems, introducing new methods of cartography of proper names, set-expressions (idioms, sayings), semantic maps and ethnolinguistic atlases compiling.
