Вплив інституційно–правових механізмів на політичне представництво жінок в країнах Центрально–Східної Європи в 90-х роках ХХ – на початку ХХІ століття

Abstract

Nowadays the problem of the influence of various features of the political system upon the representation of women in the bodies of power has been the object of many investigations. The majority of scientists consider that the reason of the insignificant number of women among the politicians, besides the factor of political culture, is hidden in the unfavourable impact of the political institutions which form the way of participation of political actors. They state that the parliament gender structure has been greatly influenced by the elements of the election system. These are mainly such figures as the size of the constituency, the party size, and electoral barrier. What concerns the character of the influence of party systems on the estimation of women’s prospective in politics, we should state that political character and organizational power of political parties in post-communist countries is the essential factor of the influence on the interaction between the electoral systems and women’s representation.
