| Abstract: | The article highlights the events, which caused the Revolution of 1956 in Hungary, their development, activi-ties of the USSR government and Soviet troops under such circumstances. The author comes to the conclusion that, nevertheless, the revolution of 1956 was a failure; it was that event which started the process of democrati-zation in Hungarian Republic. Consequently, in 1989 there was a successful revolution in Hungarian society; it was one of the first countries of socialist camp that gave up Moscow dictatorship and participation in CMEA and WTO. Modern Hungary is on the stage of democracy consolidation. It is a member of the most powerful interna-tional organizations – NATO and European Union. |
