Abstract:	The article, based on ethnographical fieldwork in the urban type settlement of Solotvyno in Ukraine (at the border with Romania), points to the border-related social phenomena and attempts to provide a description and analysis of the mutual connections and influence of social, political, economical and ethnic issues observed in the Ukrainian-Romanian borderland.
