Abstract: Klyuchkovych T., Synyshyna Yu. TEACHERS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT IN SLOVAKIA: REGULATORY ASPECTS AND THE WAYS OF ITS IMPROVEMENT The article highlights the problem of teachers professional development in the Slovak Republic in context of its conceptual growth, normative-legal regulation and features of its practical implementation. The evolution of pedagogical activity normative regulation in the Slovak Republic is analyzed through the historical-retrospective prism. It is emphasized that during Slovak integration into European educational space the problem of professionalization of teachers reached a new level of conceptual understanding and legislative regulation to improve the quality of teachers education. It is determined the main legislative regulation areas of professional teachers development that cover the career system, professional pedagogical activity standards and continuous teachers education. It is analyzed the model of pedagogical workers professionalization that is outlined in «The concepts of teachers professional development in the career system». The normative field of «Pedagogical workers Law» (2009) is outlined that includes regulatory provisions on legal status of teachers, their qualifications, career degrees, professional development etc. It is emphasized the progressive significance of the specified law for regulating professional training, social status and teachers motivation. The importance of European lifelong learning programs for professional Slovak teachers development has been found out. The key goals of professional teachers development in Slovakia at the current stage have been determined. The main problem areas in the professional workers development fields in Slovakia and in the international context have been outlined. It is emphasized that professional teachers development has become a priority direction of the purposeful state policy of the Slovak Republic. It has been made a conclusion that despite the shortcomings and problematic aspects there have been positive changes in the system of pedagogical workers professional development in Slovakia that are focused on conceptual content renewal, regulatory-legal support and their practical aspects of realization.
