Abstract:	In the modern world of pedagogical innovations foreign language teaching is a debate because it is an important means of cognitive activity of students, it greatly contributes to the development of their thinking, gives the opportunity to determine their own positions, develops skills to state their opinions. Discussion (lat. discussio) means consideration, research. The encyclopedic dictionary defines a discussion as a public discussion of a controversial issue or problem.
Description:	The impetus for discussion is the creation of a problematic situation with the help of discussion questions. If we talk about the development of communicative skills of high school students in a foreign language class, we must first pay attention to one of the most productive and effective methods of teaching - the method of creating a situation of cognitive controversy, educational discussions.
