Православний світ у реформаційній орбіті: заперечення культу Богородиці в рукописі Мелетія Смотрицького 1609 р..

Abstract

Відлуння в українській літературі реформаційного руху XVI–XVII ст., що істотно позначився на церковному світогляді православних письменників-полемістів, залишається дотепер нерозкритим. Цим пояснюється актуальність вивчення впливу церковного та суспільно-політичного руху Реформації на українську книжність. Метою статті є дослідження латинсько-польського рукописного твору українського православного письменника-полеміста Мелетія Смотрицького, який оприявнює захоплення ним під час навчання в Європі догматикою реформаторських церков. У публікації розглянуто питання атрибуції манускрипту Мелетію Смотрицькому, наведено нові докази, які підтверджують його авторство. У своєму творі православний книжник критично відгукнувся про надання Римською церквою святій Марії атрибутів Бога, що зауважували такі церковні реформатори, як Мартін Лютер та Філіп Меланхтон. Крім того, у творі звинувачено римських пап у викривленні змісту текстів Нового Завіту та вдаванні до чаклунства. Розглядаючи вчення Західної церкви про святу Марію як Богородицю та Царицю Небесну у світлі праць англійського єпископа Томаса Мортона, Мелетій Смотрицький обґрунтував висунуте латинникам звинувачення в богохульному вживанні священного імені «YHWH» щодо Марії. На прикладах португальського екзегета Браса Вієгаша, італійського історика Горація Турселіна та іспанського єзуїта Іоанна Осорія православний полеміст зауважив однакове прославлення в католицизмі Бога та Марії. Стоячи у ранній період своєї полемічної творчості на позиціях протестантизму, Мелетій Смотрицький засуджував те, що латинники переробили на честь Марії псалми Давида, літургійний гімн IV століття «Te Deum laudamus», а також її молитовним згадуванні перед починанням та завершенням справ. Рукописний твір Ме-летія Смотрицького засвідчує засвоєння Україною реформаційних ідей Західної і Центральної Європи XVI–XVII ст. Розлоге цитування українським православним книжником реформаторських полемістів-богословів спростовує низку хибних думок, висловлених про зародження євангельського руху в Україні у XIX ст.

The echo in the Ukrainian literature of the movement of Reformation of the 16th and 17th centuries, which had a significant impact on the church worldview of Orthodox polemicists, remains little-investigated. It explains the relevance and the topicality of studying of the influence of the Church and socio-political movement of the Reformation on Ukrainian literature. The purpose of the article is to study the Latin-Polish manuscript of the Ukrainian Orthodox writer Meletiy Smotrytskyi, which reveals the admiration during his studies in Europe for the dogmatics of the Reformed churches. The publication examines the issue of the attribution of the manuscript to Meletiy Smotrytskyi and provides new proofs that confirms its authorship. In his work the Orthodox writer criticized the Roman Church for giving of the attributes of God to Saint Mary, which was noted by such church reformers as Martin Luther and Philip Melanchthon. Besides, in the manuscript it is accused the Roman pope of distorting the content of the texts of the New Testament and resorting to sorcery. Examining the teachings of the Western Church about Saint Mary as the Mother of God and Queen of Heaven in the light of the works of the English bishop Thomas Morton, Meletiy Smotrytskyi substantiated made to the Catholics the accusation of the blasphemous use of the sacred name «YHWH» in relation to Saint Mary. Using the examples of the Portuguese exegete Bras Viegas, the Italian historian Horace Turcelin and the Spanish Jesuit John Osorio, the Orthodox polemicist noted the equal glorification of God and Mary in Catholicism. Standing in the early period of his creative work on the positions of Protestantism, Meletiy Smotrytskyi condemned the fact that the Catholics reworked the psalms of David and the liturgical hymn of the 4th century «Te Deum laudamus» in honor of Mary, as well as her prayerful mention before starting and finishing deeds. The manuscript of Meletiy Smotrytskyi testifies the mastering by the Ukraine of the reformation ideas of Western and Central Europe of the 16th–17th centuries. The extensive citation by the Ukrainian Orthodox writer of reformist polemicists-theologians refutes a number of false opinions expressed about the birth of the evangelical movement in Ukraine in the 19th century.
