Чинники когнітивного дисонансу як фактору діахронної множинності перекладів часово віддаленого першотвору

Abstract

У запропонованій розвідці обґрунтовуються чинники когнітивного дисонансу як фактору діахронної множинності перекладів часово віддаленого першотвору. Матеріалом дослідження слугували часово віддалені першотвори – трагедії В. Шекспіра “Romeo and Juliet” (1594), “Hamlet” (1600) i “Macbeth” (1605) та їх українські ретрансляції ХІХ–ХХІ ст. У статті визначено специфіку когнітивного дисонансу з позицій теорії і практики перекладу. Когнітивний дисонанс як комплексне явище включає як ментальний, так і лінгвістичний аспекти. Визначено, що когнітивний дисонанс у перекладознавстві проявляється як обмеження у виборі засобів цільової мови, для відтворення структури одиниць оригіналу, або комунікативної мети цієї одиниці. Для досягнення мети цього дослідження, а саме обґрунтування чинників когнітивного дисонансу як фактору діахронної множинності перекладів часово віддаленого першотвору, ефективними постають три рівня, на яких виявляються такі типи когнітивного дисонансу: гносеологічний когнітивний дисонанс (через недостатність достовірного знання духовних і фізичних реалій), ідеологічний когнітивний дисонанс (через суперечливі уявлення, переконання, цінності, ставлення до соціальної дійсності), культурно-естетичний когнітивний дисонанс (через протиріччя між явищами культури). У статті продемонстровано прояв когнітивного дисонансу при перекладі часово віддаленого першотвору. Визначено, що задля досягнення адекватного перекладу та усунення або хоча б мінімізації впливу когнітивного дисонансу у сприйнятті тексту, перекладачі повинні враховувати зіткнення суперечливих знань, зіткнення суперечливих ідей і переконань, а також зіткнення суперечливих поведінкових настанов і міжкультурних відмінностей.

The proposed investigation substantiates the causes of cognitive dissonance as a factor in the diachronic plurality in retranslations of the time remote original text. The material of the research is time remote original texts – the tragedies of W. Shakespeare “Romeo and Juliet” (1594), “Hamlet” (1600) and “Macbeth” (1605) and their Ukrainian retranslations of the 19th-21st centuries. The article defines the specifics of cognitive dissonance from the perspective of translation theory and practice. Cognitive dissonance as a complex phenomenon includes both mental and linguistic aspects. It has been determined that cognitive dissonance in translation studies manifests itself as a limitation in the choice of translation means of the target language to reproduce the structure of the original units, or to preserve the communicative purpose of this unit. In order to achieve the goal of this study, namely the substantiation of the causes of cognitive dissonance as a factor of diachronic plurality in retranslations of the time remote original text, three levels of cognitive dissonance proved to be effective, such as: epistemological cognitive dissonance (caused by a lack of reliable knowledge of spiritual and physical realities), ideological cognitive dissonance (manifested in contradictory ideas, assumptions, beliefs, values, attitudes to social reality), cultural-aesthetic cognitive dissonance (caused by contradiction between cultural realia). The article demonstrates the manifestation of cognitive dissonance in the Ukrainian retranslations of the time remote original text. It has been determined that in order to achieve an adequate translation and eliminate, or at least minimize, cognitive dissonance in the perception of the original text, translators should take into account the clash of conflicting knowledge, the clash of conflicting ideas and beliefs as well as the clash of conflicting behavioral guidelines and intercultural differences.
