Деякі питання граматичної репрезентації динаміки образу особистості

Abstract

Статтю присвячено дослідженню особливостей граматичної репрезентації динаміки образу особистості в англійській мові в антропо-когнітивному аспекті. В останні десятиліття в лінгвістичних дослідженнях учених велика увага приділяється широкому колу питань, пов’язаних зі співвідношенням понять «людина – текст», до яких належать, зокрема, проблеми репрезентації образу людини в дискурсі. Об’єктом дослідження є синтаксис і семантика граматичних засобів репрезентації в дискурсі динамічних уявлень про особистість. Актуальність цього дослідження зумовлена тим, що воно виконане в руслі домінуючої в сучасній лінгвістиці когнітивної парадигми, має міждисциплінарний характер та антропоцентричну спрямованість. Матеріалом дослідження слугували приклади, які були запозичені з творів 32 англійських та американських авторів XIX–XX ст., зібрані методом суцільної вибірки. У результаті створена картотека, у якій представлений широкий спектр граматичних конструкцій, що передають значення динаміки та мають найрізноманітнішу синтаксичну структуру. У підсумку в основу дослідження лягло понад 1000 прикладів, з них 50 прикладів є об’єктом лінгвістичного аналізу та ілюстративним матеріалом безпосередньо в цій статті. У ході дослідження авторка доходить висновку, що динаміка образу особистості може бути виявлена мовцем на підставі всіх п’яти органів чуття, властивих людині, що проявляється в оформленні відповідних конструкцій дієсловами чуттєвого сприйняття. Ментальне уявлення про таку динаміку може оцінюватися мовцем із позиції об’єктивності та співвіднесеності з реальною дійсністю (дієслова з епістемічно модальним значенням). Своєю чергою дієслова із семантикою зміни стану додатково актуалізують сам факт динамічного стану, створюють ефект посилення значення зміни. Повнозначні дієслова використовуються в дискурсі для актуалізації динаміки образу особистості, коли мовець співвідносить певні дії з характерними для них станами або супроводжує опис дії деякою ознакою, що характеризує стан особи, яка цю дію вчиняє.

This article is devoted to the study of grammatical representation of the dynamics of personality image in English in anthropo-cognitive aspect. In recent decades, in the scholars’ linguistic research, much attention has been paid to a wide range of issues related to the relationship between the concepts of “man – text”, which include, in particular, the problems of representation of human image in discourse. The object of this study is the syntax and semantics of grammatical means of representation in the discourse some dynamic ideas about personality. The study is relevant because it has been performed in line with the dominant cognitive paradigm in modern linguistics, as well it has an interdisciplinary nature and anthropocentric orientation. The material of the research were examples that were borrowed from the works of 32 English and American authors of the XIX–XX centuries, collected by the method of continuous sampling. As a result, a card index was created, which presented a wide range of grammatical constructions that convey the meaning of dynamics and have a variety of syntactic structures. As a result, the study was based on more than 1000 examples, of which 50 examples are the subject of linguistic analysis and illustrative material directly in this article. In the course of the research, the author comes to the conclusion that the dynamics of the image of personality, can be revealed by the speaker on the basis of all five senses inherent to a man, which is manifested in the corresponding constructions by sensory perception verbs. The mental idea of the dynamics of this kind can be assessed by the speaker in terms of objectivity and correlation with reality (verbs with epistemic modal meaning). Verbs with the semantics of state change, in turn, actualize the fact of the dynamic state further, creating the effect of increasing the meaning of change. Full verbs are used in discourse to actualize the dynamics of the image of personality, when the speaker correlates certain actions with their characteristic states, or accompanies the description of the action with some features that characterize the state of the person who commits this action.
